Miečkovskis Romualdas
Romualdas Miečkovskis – poet, translator.
He was born 11 February, 1950 in Vilnius.
In 1968 he finished 19th Secondary school in Vilnius. In 1973 he finished his studies at Vilnius Pedagogical Institute. From 1973 till 1980 he worked as a reporter at daily newspaper “Czerwony Sztandar”. During the years of 1980-1988 he was a manager of Polish broadcasts section at National Radio and Television. An editor of broadcast “Rozmowy Wileńskie” (1988-2002). He is an editor in chief and publisher of newspaper (1989-2000) and magazine (since 2000) “Znad Wilii”. In 1992 he was one of the founders of radio station “Znad Wilii”. He collaborates with Polish newspapers “Rzeczpospolita”, “Nowy Dziennik” since 1989 and with Polish RTV, “Literatūra ir menas”, “Šiaurės Atėnai” since 1990. From 1990 till 2000 he collaborated with BBC. His works have been included into more than seventy collections and anthologies, and translated into English, Russian, French, Ukrainian, Czech and Arabic languages. He translates from Lithuanian, Russian, Belorussian and Ukrainian languages.
A member of Lithuanian Writers’ Union since 2004.
