Kontrimaitė Marytė
Marytė Kontrimaitė – poetess, translator.
She was born 9 February, 1947 in Vilkaičiai, Plungė district.
In 1965-1970 she studied Lithuanian language and literature at Vilnius University. In 1971-1973 she had an internship at Yerevan University where she studied Armenian language and literature. From 1974 till 1980 she worked as an editor at editorial office of “Enciklopedios”. In 1981-1982 she was an editor of art broadcasts at Lithuanian Radio and Television. During the years of 1983-1991 she worked at newspapers and magazines “Moksleivis”, “Literatūra ir menas”, “Caritas” and “Dienovidis”. From 1983 till 1996 she was a freelance translator. She is a member of the board at Lithuanian Radio and Television since 1998. In 1999-2002 she was an adviser on topics of culture and press at Education, Culture and Science Committee of Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania. From 2003 she worked as an editor at Science and Encyclopedia Publishing Institute.
A member of Lithuanian Writers’ Union since 1983.
