Kelertienė Violeta
Violeta Kelertienė – literary scholar and critic.
She was born 7 May, 1942 in Kaunas.
In 1944 she moved West with her parents. In 1962 she finished her studies of English languages and literature at Toronto University. From 1976 till 1979 she studied comparative literature at Wisconsin University (USA). From 1984 she gave lectures at Illinois University and during the years of 1993-2008 she was a head of the Lithuanian language Department. She has a degree of Professor. She is a member of Association for the Advancement of Baltic Studies (and was a chairman during the years of 1996-1998). She was an editor of magazine “Metmenys” from 1997 and during the years 1999-2011 she was an editor of “Lituanus” magazine. She collaborates with magazines “Aidai”, “Akiračiai”, “Journal of Baltic Studies”, “Lituanus”, “Metai”, “Metmenys”, “World Literature Today”, etc. She is an honorable PhD of Vytautas Magnus University.
A member of Lithuanian Writers’ Union since 1991.
