Keleras Julius
Julius Keleras – poet, translator, playwright.
He was born 3 March, 1961 in Vilnius.
He graduated from Juozas Tallat-Kelpša Higher Music school. In 1987 he finished studies of the Lithuanian language and literature at Vilnius University. From 1989 till 1992 he studied at National Illinois University (USA) and got his Master’s degree of free arts. In 1987 he worked as an editor at Lithuania Film Studios and as an assistant at Lithuanian literature department of Vilnius University. From 1992 till 1995 he was an editor and translator at publishing house “Lumen / Logos”. During the years of 1995-2001 he was an editor in chief of a newspaper “Darbininkas” published in New York. In 2003-2004 he worked as a reviewer at National Radio and Television. His works have been translated into Russian, Portuguese, Slovakian, Hungarian, Bulgarian, English, Swedish, Polish, Latvian, Georgian, Italian, Spanish, Japanese and other languages. He is an active participant of various international poetry festivals and readings. A member of international PEN Center.
A member of Lithuanian Writers’ Union since 1999.
