Jakštas Jonas
Jonas Jakštas – poet, translator.
He was born 8 February, 1931 in Bikūnai, Utena district.
In 1959 he finished his studies of Lithuanian language and literature at Vilnius University. During the years of 1954-1957 he worked as a corrector at newspaper “Tiesa”. Form 1957 till 1964 he worked at “Švyturys” magazine. From 1964 till 1972 he concentrated on writing. During the years of 1972-1990 he worked at Lithuanian Radio and Television as a senior editor of Literature and Drama section and in 1990 he became an editor in chief (till 1993). In 1994 he had a broadcast “Po lyros ženklu”. His works have been translated into Moldavian, Ukrainian, Russian, Belorussian, Polish and other languages.
A member of Lithuanian Writers’ Union since 1966.
