Eugenijus Ignatavičius – prose writer, playwright.
He was born 8 May, 1935 Užraguviai, Raseiniai district.
During the years of 1945-1953 he was studying at Vadžgiris eight year school and Secondary school in Raseiniai. He was imprisoned and from 1953 till 1955 he spent in concentration camp for anti-Soviet activity. In 1955-1956 he studied at evening work school in Šilutė. From 1956 till 1960 he studied at Conservatoire, the Theatre Faculty. In 1971-1973 he studied at Moscow Institute of Literature by M. Gorki. From 1960 till 1964 he worked at National Radio and Television (LRT), during the years of 1964-1967 he worked at weekly newspaper “Literatūra ir menas”, from 1967 till 1971 he was a member of the Art section at Ministry of Culture, from 1973 till 1980 he worked at Kaunas Drama Theater, in 1980-1984 he worked at Association of Theatre. He also worked at Lithuanian Writers’ Union (1989-1990), at Ministry of Culture and Education he was the head of Theater department (1991-1993) and at Television Films Studios (1994-1998). His work has been translated into Russian, English, Armenian, Georgian, Latvian, Serbian and other languages.
A member of Lithuanian Writers’ Union since 1971.
