Drilinga Antanas
Antanas Drilinga – poet, prose writer.
He was born 16 May, 1935 in Plikiškiai, Anykščiai district.
He studied at Mikieriai primary school, that at Šimoniai pre-gymnasium, attended Ukmergė teachers seminary. During 1955-1959 he studied Lithuanian language and literature at Vilnius Pedagogical Institute and from 1973 till 1976 he studied journalism at Vilnius University. He worked at magazine “Švyturys” in 1957-1958 and at editorial office of “Komjaunimo tiesa” literature section in 1958-1962. From 1959 till 1973 he was a member of the Central Committee of the Lithuanian Lenin’s Communist Youth Union. In 1962-1963 he worked at editorial office of magazine “Moksleivis” as a head of literature and art section. During the years 1963-1965 he was a worker in the Central Committee of the Lithuanian Lenin’s Communist Youth Union. From 1965 till 1966 he was an editor in chief of magazine “Moksleivis”. From 1967 till 1972 he was an editor in chief of “Nemunas”. From 1970 till 1990 he was a board member of Writers’ Union, in 1971-1974 he was a secretary of Kaunas Department of the Writers’ Union. He was an editor in chief of “Literatūra ir menas” in 1985-1989 and from 1992 till 1995 he was an editor in chief of National Publishing center. His poems appeared in literary press in 1953. His work is included in various collections, almanacks and anthologies.
A member of Lithuanian Writers’ Union since 1962.
