Asovskis Vitalijus
Vitalijus Asovskis – poet, playwright, translator.
Was born on 22 June, 1952 in Kaliningrad, Russia.
He lives in Vilnius since 1959. In 1970 he finished the 3rd Secondary School of Vilnius and in 1978 he graduated studies of Russian philology at Vilnius University. During 1977 – 1987 he worked as a coach of athletic gymnastics, trained sportsmen, organized sport events and competitions. From 1977 till 1987 he worked as a body building instructor at “Žalgiris” association. From 1975 till 2012 he was working with various magazines, newspapers, radio and TV stations and edited different internet news web pages. From 1987 till 2013 he was a cooperator and an editor at magazine “Vilnius”. From 2000 till 2009 he worked as a head of Literature Department in Russian Drama Theatre. He started publishing his work since 1975 in different Lithuanian and international cultural press. He writes in Russian and his works are translated into Lithuanian, English, Polish and other languages.
A member of Lithuanian Writers’ Union since 1992.
