Rimantas Šavelis – prose writer.
He was born 10 January, 1942 in Steponiai, Rokiškis district.
In 1967 he graduated from Vilnius University and in 1970 he graduated from High Film Script and Direction courses in Moscow. From 1970 till 1974 he worked as an engineer at a Cinematography Committee. During the years of 1974-1977 and 1980-1984 he was an editor of screenplay board at Lithuanian Film Studios. In 1978-1980 he worked as consultant of prose at LSSR Writers’ Union and was a manager of the club during the years of 1990-1993. From 1993 till 2005 he worked as a chief orderly inspector at Lithuanian Export – Import Directory.
A member of Lithuanian Writers’ Union since 1973.
